People’s Kafe –Whispers from the Lighthouse of Galle

Travel takes you far from home, but brings you closer to yourself. This, I realized after visiting many places of interest across countries – lighthouses, beaches, hills, gardens, oceans, and forests. The memories imprinted on my mind have stayed on for a long time. Even today I can recollect; the seashells I collected on a forlorn island of Maldives and the reindeers of Santa Claus I fed in Rovaniemi, the beach of Bentota that I walked barefoot on and the helicopter drive I took over the Colorado river fenced by the grand canyons. I lost myself, only to discover myself. My travel sojourns have connected me to myself when life had a way of disconnecting me from what mattered. In simple words, when I saw the mountains of Igatpuri or the seagulls of Norway, I discovered what truly counted – the moment in time, which shall be gone away soon and be reserved for a memory on another day.

“People’s Kafe – Whispers from the Lighthouse of Galle: Stories of Friendships & Adventures in Nature” encapsulates these memories of the places I explored, friends I made along the way, and the beauty of nature I enjoyed by the way of living at different places my father was posted at. You will find joyful tales about peacocks who became my pets, the lighthouse I explored in Galle along the Indian Ocean, the salacious mango tree in my backyard, and the people I met on travel who nearly adopted me.

I implore you to embark on your own trails of adventures amid nature and discover the joys of unspoken friendships.

Wonderfully written to paint the picture of the event in front of the reader and the reader can't keep herself away from becoming the part of the story. The best companion for anyone who like to enjoy your hot chocolate sitting in the patio with book in her hand.

The warm & compassionate tone gives it a human touch while personalizing the experience for the reader. Each story has a nugget for you - teasing you to expand your own boundaries of perseverance, belief and faith. My personal favourites are Radha Aunty and Sharma ji...I do hope to bump into them some day! An effortless and easy read - a big yes for you to pick this up, sit back and enjoy your cup of coffee at People’s Kafe!

I liked the simple stories, experiences and interpretations of the author from her life incidences that can make you take a pause and think. Readers who like light stories and love to read about human behaviour and experiences would enjoy reading the book. It has set of real life stories that has shaped the author’s life choices and rewired her thoughts to a better human kind and human mind.

An effective writer is able to distil complex thoughts and ideas into simple, clear language that's quickly and easily understood by others. This valuable quality helps them tackle even the densest subject matter by breaking it down into uncomplicated pieces.

The most faithful bond we make is the bond with self. This book gives us all the material (cement, concrete, steel and blueprint) to make lasting bridge with our inner self. With this guided journal we get an opportunity to have a very honest conversation with ourself and when we jot down those pictures in words, we give shape to our imaginations, they become permanent and stay with us forever. Begin your own journey now. You already have my good advice, all you need to get is your own copy of this book😊

I am really enjoying the stories. They are a therapy for me after a really busy day. Reminds me of good old school days where we used to borrow books from the library and read them for the pure joy. Thank you for compiling them 😊

The vivid language instantly transported me into the world she described in this book. A story of the girl from Lucknow to being a Mumbaikar, about her personal life to professional life. The way of describing and writing story is awesome.

Really liked reading your book. Took me back to my old memories of visiting my parent during holidays. Thea beautiful memories of house, courtyard, garden, nature…and those carefree ties with parents. You have an excellent flare for writing. Keep it coming!
